Teen Mental Health First Aid Training

This event has been postponed.

Mackay Regional Council and the Foundation for Young Australians respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Yuwi people, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present, to the young emerging leaders. We also extend our acknowledgement to all Aboriginal members of the Birri Gubba Nation.

Key Details

What is Teen Mental Health First Aid Training?

Teen Mental Health First Aid Training equips secondary school students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to a friend or classmate experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis. A qualified trainer will be running sessions over Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July at the following times:

Grade 7 to 9
Saturday 27 July
9:00am to 12:00pm

Grade 10 to 12
Sunday 28 July
9:00am to 12:30pm

Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of training.

Lunch (pizza) will be provided from 12:00 pm. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

How much will it cost?

All costs are paid for by FYA and the Young Mayors program, including catering.

What is FYA’s safety policy?

The young people’s safety and wellbeing is our number one priority. Participants will be under supervision of a responsible adult (a staff member employed by FYA) at all times. All responsible adults have Working With Children’s Checks. We will always travel in a group and no one will be left alone (other than when they’re in their own rooms in the evening). You can view the FYA Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy at fya.org.au/safety.
