About us
The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) is an independent organisation committed to improving the learning outcomes and life chances of young people. To effectively deliver on this commitment, FYA undertakes research, delivers education initiatives, invests in individuals and youth-led organisations, and advocates on the issues that matter to young people.
Our Strategy
Our mission is to empower young Australians to be successful learners and creative, active and valued citizens.
We do this by supporting innovative approaches, providing rich learning opportunities and developing resources that inspire and challenge young Australians and improve their wellbeing.
Ultimately, our long-term vision is for an Australia where all young people achieve their full potential and are valued by all. We believe this vision can be realised by supporting and empowering young Australians to become successful learners and creative, active and valued citizens.
Alliance with Education Foundation
In 2008 we formed an alliance with the Education Foundation, an organisation with a rich history of creating reform and innovation within public education across Australia. With the team from the Education Foundation, we have built a stronger and more dynamic organisation – one ready to address many of the serious challenges facing young Australians.
We recognise the challenges and opportunities that will impact on young Australians; from inter-generational issues such as climate change and the recovery of financial markets through to educational reform and tackling disadvantage.
Our primary focus is on improving the wellbeing of young Australians – with an initial focus on supporting education reform in Australia. This enables us to build on the existing strengths of our organisation, particularly since committing to the development of our Education Foundation Division.
We look forward to working in partnership with young people from across Australia, government agencies, the private sector and other not-for-profit agencies. Together we can realise this vision.
