Trans Mob Retreat

This project is led by Estelle Clarke, a Yorta Yorta and Wamba Wemba trans woman and Coordinator in the First Nations Health Programs at ACON, with support from Dr Madi Day, a trans Murri educator and researcher specialising in issues concerning LGBTQIA+ mob.

The Trans Mob Retreat is a national retreat for First Nations trans mob, to be held in 2026. Trans mob haven’t gathered together since Kungah in 2016, which was the first and last national gathering for trans and gender diverse mob. This three day retreat will centre connection, rest, resilience, and social and emotional wellbeing and will be led by, and for our community.

The need for gathering at this scale is urgent. Around the world, trans people have been attacked politically, experienced vilification, violence and hate. This is compounded for trans mob who also experience racism and cultural erasure. A retreat like this offers young trans mob an opportunity to connect and understand ourselves as a collective and community.
