Young Mayors Cairns Nominations Form

If you’re aged 13–17 and live in the Cairns area, we’d love you to nominate for the Cairns Youth Council by midnight, Monday 21 July.

We strongly encourage nominations from young people with diverse lived experiences, including First Nations young people, LGBTQIA+, disabled people, women and non-binary people, low-income communities, people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and people of colour. You do not need to be an Australian citizen to apply.

Are you able to attend fortnightly meetings, if elected?(Required)

Yes

Depending on availability of the youth councillors, meetings are mostly held in-person but we can provide online participation if needed. Meetings usually run for 1.5 - 2 hours and are held at Cairns Regional Council.

Do you have capacity to attend additional meetings and contribute in other ways?(Required)

Yes

Depending on the project, the youth council may hold project meetings in working groups during school holidays or in alternative weeks. These meetings are usually determined by need.
