Lachlan Preston (he/him)
director, Young Mayors
Lachlan is a senior for-purpose leader and director. He has demonstrated ability leading teams to create impact in youth, community development, education, and social justice programs. Lachlan has undertaken leadership roles at the Cathy Freeman Foundation, Ardoch, Scouts Victoria, and Good Shepherd. He has also coordinated campaigns for Macnamara for Yes and Zoe Daniel MP.
His strengths include strategic leadership, managing state and national program delivery, volunteer engagement and monitoring, evaluation & impact reporting. Lachlan has completed a Masters of International Development Practice and brings demonstrated expertise in building and leading several volunteer teams and campaigns of over 1,000 people, deep knowledge of child safety practices, and extensive experience working with First Nations communities.
Lachlan has extensive volunteer leadership experience, including a three-year term as an Assistant Chief Commissioner for Scouts Victoria. He is currently a director of the Victorian Scout Foundation, and Group Leader at Fitzroy Scout Group (based at Atherton Gardens Public Housing Estate). Lachlan grew up in country Victoria, but now lives on Bunurong / Boon Wurrung land in Melbourne.
