Who is delivering the Youth Action Project Grant Scheme (YAPGS)?
YAPGS is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and is delivered in partnership with the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA).
What kinds of projects will be considered?
YAPGS will consider and support both new and existing projects responding to the issues young people are facing at this time. It will support projects that:
Have a particular focus on employment transportation, mental health, and the impacts of COVID-19 and the Australian bushfires on young people.
Operate as social enterprises, are issue based, community services, arts, sports, or health interventions.
Focus both on the immediate needs of young people during this time of crisis and those that seek to secure their long term well-being and prosperity.
Back young people experiencing the most hardship during this time; that includes those that are disproportionately affected due to their race, disability, education, sexuality, gender, financial standing, mental well-being or otherwise.
Is there any other criteria that I need to meet?
Have the capacity and resources to deliver the project for the amount put forward in their application.
Be responding to an issue that impacts the immediate well-being or long term prosperity of young people aged 15-24 years
Not be seeking to generate a financial profit
Not have existing funding for the project from the federal, state or territory government
How much can I apply for?
Applicants must be seeking funds of between $5,000 and $20,000. A total of up to $950,000 (inc. GST) will be allocated.
If successful, what support is on offer alongside the grant?
Successful applicants will attend two summits where they will take part in capacity building activities. They will also have access to weekly capacity building workshops, an online community of practice and storytelling opportunities where available.
When do I need to complete my project?
Applicants must be able to begin implementing the project within 4 weeks of receiving a grant and complete it by June 18 2021.
If we are successful, what may we spend the money on?
Funds must be used to pay for project costs including. but not limited to. staffing, equipment purchases, consumables and/or marketing.
Do I need to be a registered not-for-profit, or can for-profit organisations and individuals also apply?
Applications will be accepted by both organisations (for-profit and not-for-profit) and individuals.
Does a young person need to be leading the project?
No. Projects can be led by people of any age, but must be supporting young people aged 15 – 24 years.
When will we be notified of the outcome of our application?
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by December 11 2020. Successful applicants will receive funds by the end of 2020.
When do applications close?
Applications will close at 11:59 PM AEST on Wednesday 7th October.
Who will assess my application?
Applications will be assessed by representatives of the Australian Government Department of Health, FYA and a group of young social change leaders.
