Below are some answers to general Unleashed Awards questions and further down you’ll find some information specific to $20 Boss participants.
This year, we really want to focus on celebrating projects, initiatives and businesses that are created, led and run by young people. Check each category description for more info and age eligibility.
We are looking for projects that are innovative, have potential to grow, and have made an impact in their community.
No, finalists are not selected based on ‘votes’, so there is no need for multiple nominations. One nomination per project is enough.
Totally, as long as the project has been created or is led by young people within the category’s specific age eligibility. The ages of supporting team members is not an issue. Eg. The Jumpstart Award is open to social change projects led, run or created by 12-18 year olds.
Sure! We’re happy to split the prize money between team members of the winning project.
For certain category nominations, you will find a link to a Dropbox folder that you can upload files to. You do not need a Dropbox account to do this. Dropbox is a website that allows you to store and share files easily. If you’re having trouble uploading the attachments feel free to contact the team: firstname.lastname@example.org
We recommend documents or images that would support your nomination. You might want to consider sending us a logo, examples of your work, merchandising, prototypes, budgets, outline plans or some social media screenshots. We ask you to limit to three attachments per application. Please label each attachment with your project title and what it is (i.e. Changemaking Enterprise – logo.jpg) So that we can find it easily with your nomination.
For finalists not based in Victoria, we will cover the flights & accommodation for 1 representative from each shortlisted entry plus a chaperone if they are under 18, or a friend if they are over 18. If more people are required to (or want to) travel with the finalist, it will be at their own expense.
Unfortunately, this year’s Awards ceremony is by invitation only. We will deliver invitations to finalists soon after nominations close at 9am October 1, 2018.
If you are under 15, you will not be able to submit a nomination. Get an adult you trust ie. a parent, guardian or teacher to submit the nomination for ya!
We will contact all finalists by Thursday 11th October. Winners will be announced live on stage at the Awards ceremony in Melbourne on Thursday 1st November. Woo!
The $20 Boss Enterprise of the Year, Jumpstart, Local Legend, Writers for Change, Vanguard and Game Changer finalists and winners are selected by an FYA judging panel based on the answers provided in the nomination. The New Work Order Award will be decided upon by a panel of external industry experts.
Yeah, totally! Click on nomination forms to have a gander at the questions before you start to fill it out. We recommend preparing your answers in a separate document then pasting them in when you’re ready to roll. The form won’t autosave so we don’t want you to lose all your hard work partway through!
Try refreshing the web page or opening the form in another browser. If you’re still having difficulties or have another issue with your form please feel free to contact the Unleashed team on 03 9670 5436 or by emailing us at email@example.com and we can do our best to help you out.
Unfortunately it’a a strict deadline and we won’t be able to accept any late nominations. We recommend getting your nomination in as soon as possible, just in case.

A young person who participated in the $20 Boss program in 2018. $20 Boss is an awesome national entrepreneurship program for secondary school students. Students are provided $20 of start-up capital to create, launch and operate their venture over the course of a school term.
$20 Boss participants can apply for any Unleashed award as long as they meet the criteria, however the $20 Boss Enterprise of the Year category has been created especially for $20 Boss participants. There will be two winners in this category — a Junior (Years 7-9) and a Senior (Years 10-12). When you start your application, there will be a box to tick to say you’re a $20 Boss participant. This will allow you to answer a number of program-specific questions that will help us in the judging process.
$20 Boss participants who enter the $20 Boss Enterprise of the Year category will also be automatically nominated for the $20 Boss State & Territory Awards and the Like A Boss Awards.
If you submit a nomination for the $20 Boss Enterprise of the Year Award, you will automatically be entered into the $20 Boss State & Territory Awards and the Like A Boss Awards too. No need to submit anything extra. The $20 Boss State & Territory Awards will be given to one project per Australian state or territory, and Like A Boss Awards will be given to projects that have shown excellence in one of six key program areas: design, planning, marketing, investment and innovation. Winners for these awards will be announced via email and online 1st November 2018. Only finalists of the $20 Boss Enterprise of the Year Award will be invited and flown to Melbourne to attend the Unleashed Awards ceremony.

Definitely! We encourage young people to work in teams, but still want to celebrate those who worked on the project individually.
That’s totally ok! Just choose the award that is closest to your year level. Just don’t forget to check the box that asks if you were a $20 Boss participant and ensure you answer all the program-specific questions too.
Of course! Have a look at the form questions first to see if you have enough information to back your nomination.
Absolutely! We encourage you to consider nominating some of your students and sharing the link with other teachers to get them nominating too. If you are still delivering, or yet to deliver, check out the nomination form to see if your students have progressed enough in their business journey to have enough information to support their nomination.
Of course! We recommend you nominate your teacher through the New Work Order Award which you can find on the categories page.
