The changing economy presents both challenges and opportunities for our workforce. By supporting current and future workers to understand where future jobs are, what skills they need and how they can be used to transition between jobs, we can support them to take advantage of opportunities in their region.
South West TAFE and the Foundation for Young Australians together with industry partners Lyndoch Living, Western District Health Service and Eventide Homes are collaborating on a new initiative in South West Victoria. This project is funded by the Victorian Department of Education and Training’s Workforce Training and Innovation Fund, exploring new ideas and solutions to career management.
Providing local insights into the changing economy, the New Work Mindset in Action: South West Victoria report analysed 1.2 million job advertisements in the past 3 years across South West Victoria and Victoria to map out the changing employment opportunities within the region. This report reveals what employers in the region are demanding and how workers can prepare for these changes. These findings will directly inform the broader project co-designed with industry, educators and students.
