Tony Mackay is Executive Director of the Melbourne-based Centre for Strategic Education – a Centre focusing on Educational Leadership, Professional Practice, School Improvement, Curriculum and Assessment, and Innovation at state, national and international levels.
Tony is an Honorary Fellow in the Graduate School of Education at The University of Melbourne, a Board Director of the Australian Council for Educational Research, a member of the Advisory Board of the Asia Education Foundation and a Board Director of the Foundation for Young Australians.
Tony is Immediate Past President of the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI). He is Chair of the Innovation Unit Ltd; England and a consultant advisor to OECD / CERI. Tony is a founding member of the Governing Council of the National College for School Leadership in England.
Tony is Co-Director of the Global Education Leaders Program (GELP) supported by CISCO, Gates Foundation, Hay Group, McKinsey, Innovation Unit Ltd; Asia Education Foundation and Harvard School of Education. Tony’s policy advice and facilitation work focuses on strategic thinking for Government bodies and agencies, think tanks and leadership teams in Australia, Asia, Europe and North America.
Tony is a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators (ACE) and the College’s 2006 Medallist; a Fellow of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL), the ACEL Leaders 2008 Nganakarrawa Award recipient, the ACEL’s 2010 Gold Medallist and a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) (V).
