Ken Liow is a private investor who serves on investment and related committees for RealIndex (a division of Colonial First State), Whitehelm Capital (a subsidiary of Challenger Ltd), Realm Investment House and Maritime Superannuation Fund. He is also a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board and Director of the Spinal Research Institute. He has served on the investment committees of other institutional investors previously.
From 1998 to 2011 he worked at BlackRock where he established and developed the Australian quantitative equity capability. He was Chief Investment Officer of domestic equities amongst other roles over his career at the firm. He was an investment adviser to institutions at Mercer for five years where he served as Head of Investment Research and, prior to this, at AMP within the actuarial department.
Ken has been a member of FYA's investment committee since 2012.
Ken has a Bachelor of Commerce (University of Melbourne) and Graduate Diploma of International Relations (Deakin University). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and Senior Fellow of the Finance and Securities Institute of Australia.
