Jon is an Actuary with a background in superannuation and investment management. In his last full-time role, he headed the local investment management operations of Morgan Stanley, a global investment bank, from November 1994 to August 2005. He currently is a consultant to an international investment firm and has been active with a number of community groups. He also tries to help behind the scenes in the ceramic art business, Potier, inspired and managed by his wife Judith.
Jon has been a member of investment committees for the Association of Superfunds of Australia, the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, and the Australian Investment Managers’ Association. He headed an industry working party which developed Australian investment performance measurement standards and was the Australian representative on the international committee which developed Global standards.
In February 2000, Jon was appointed to the Board of the Investment and Financial Services’ Association and chaired its Investment Committee for four years. Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility were significant areas covered by that committee over those years. Jon was granted honorary membership of IFSA in October 2005 for his contribution to the superannuation and investment industries.
Jon is married with three adult children and lives in Brighton. Sport has been an important part of his life, mainly with Aussie Rules football, athletics, squash, orienteering and now golf.
