Bryce a descendant of the NSW mid north coast region of the Biripi - Worimi lands, resident of Kabi-Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi country majority of my life. My culture is not just a feature of who I am but rather something that is central to my very being, it influences every aspect of my daily life.
The reality of this existence has seen the past 5 years of my life dedicated to the pursuit of not just Indigenous improvement, but Indigenous excellence. Over the years I have been constant witness to young Indigenous voices silenced, overlooked, and disregarded, including my own.
However in 2017 I took part in FYA’s YSP program. This not only restored my faith in larger capacity organisations, but the FYA family through structure and individual’s reaffirmed my self confidence and the fire that I once had which has since reignited with lived experience and results as an indigenous community member, leader, mentor and young entrepreneur. When I applied for YSP I was a struggling PT/labourer. Since then my business has been reborn and gone from strength to strength working directly and partnering in multiple spaces from early childhood education to mental health initiatives. This is the opportunity that was presented to me through FYA’s professionalism paired with personalism.
