The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Moraitis, as its new CEO effective as of April 2020.
Mr Moraitis joins FYA following eight years as founding executive director of Australian Progress, the leading organisation dedicated to building the advocacy capacity of Australia’s civil society.
Previously, Nick worked in senior roles in a range of national and international non-profits and led a creative agency helping 60 clients build people-powered movements. He has also served on numerous boards.
Announcing Nicks’ appointment, FYA Chair, Sam Mostyn said “After a rigorous global search, the FYA board is delighted to secure Nick to lead FYA into the 2020s. He is one of Australia’s most entrepreneurial changemakers, with 20 years of leadership experience in social causes”.
“Nick’s track record of mentorship and mobilising financial resources to back young people with big ideas for change strongly resonated with the board’s vision for FYA”.
Ms Mostyn acknowledged former FYA CEO, Jan Owen AM who finished at FYA in December 2019, noting “Jan has a tremendous legacy at FYA, growing the organisation, embracing and backing young social entrepreneurs, and leading the national conversation on the future of education and work”.
Reflecting on his appointment, Nick said, “I’m so honoured to take on this role. FYA is a unique organisation with the mission, nous and capacity to realise the potential of young Australians and back their vision for the future of the country. FYA is known for its partnerships, and I can’t wait to forge collaboration with even more allies in philanthropy, business, and especially with youth-led organisations”.
