Caddie Cook, 24, told us the issues she's voting for at the 2019 federal election. Her piece, titled "Why I'll Turn Up", is a call to action for all young Australians.
I am voting against hate speech.
I am voting against racism.
I am voting for women’s rights,
And I am voting because it is my right.
I choose to vote in this election to take care of my LBQT friends and family.
I choose to vote in this election so refugees can settle in a safe country.
What do you choose today?
Will Australians choose to take care of one another?
Will Australians choose to take care of our neighbours and our planet?
Will we choose to put our differences aside and choose to aim high even in times of low?
Will we vote to protect the future for children, for women, people of colour and a chance at peace?
I will vote with my heart and I hope you vote with yours.
