Against a backdrop of Australia's low growth, ageing population, subsequent shrinking workforce and potential for lower standards of living, our young people will need new ideas and skills to drive our nation's economic and social progress.
The Foundation for Young Australians recently launched the latest report in our Unlimited Potential series entitled New Work Order: Ensuring young Australians have skills and experience for jobs of the future, not the past.
The report looks at how the three economic drivers of automation, globalisation and collaboration are changing the way we work. It shows that young people will be hard hit by the new work order and we aren’t doing enough to prepare them for a dramatically different future of work.
FYA believes there is an urgent need for a national enterprise learning strategy designed to ensure young people have the knowledge, skills and capabilities to thrive and contribute in the new work order.
