Hello and welcome to the Youth Action Conference for 2009.

The Foundation for Young Australians is proud to have hosted this inspiring event, held October 14-15 in Etihad Stadium.  This year, 500 young people came together to share their stories, and learn from each other and foster new ways to engage in social change.  Participants had the opportunity to meet and hear from organisations that spend their lives changing the world! A big thank you to our MC’s for the day, Nargis and Marija, and to Jungle City Massive who gave a rowsing performace to end the day of awareness-raising in celebration.

On the second day, nearly almost 100 educators and  change-makers in the youth sector met to discuss ways in which the education, community and corporate sectors can work together to create real connections for change! A panel of young people was assembled to give their perspective on change in their community, Australia and the world.

This year’s conference had four aims:

  1. To inspire and call to action
  2. To provide a space for young people to share their social change initiatives
  3. To immerse participants in a series of workshops facilitated by a diverse range of organisations that play a key role in the youth space
  4. To create networks for schools by inviting a range of different organisations to exhibit and the opportunity to
