Worlds of Work
Worlds of Work takes learning out of the classroom and into some of Australia’s most vibrant workplaces. WOW offers students in Year 10 a unique educational experience. Over five days they tap into the resources and knowledge of diverse organisations in the CBD as they seek to answer the question “What does it take to succeed in life and work?” WOW students sit down with executives and employees, learn how to network, hear from inspirational speakers and engage in skills development workshops.
“The WOW program has broadened my outlook on life and my future career. I have learnt so much about myself, about other people and how I can communicate with a range of people and understand them. This is a fantastic program and I recommend it to everyone and anyone.” WOW student
“I’ve been teaching for 30 years, and I have to say that this week was the best week of my career!” WOW teacher
Schools – From 2011 we are looking for schools who are keen to undertake WOW as a three year project. For the first two years you and your students take part in WOW in our CBD venue with FYA staff leading the program. In the third year your school builds on this experience to launch your own WOW program in your local area. Click here to register your expression of interest for 2011or email wow@fya.org.au for more information.
Workplace partners – FYA invites you to engage with us in our Worlds of Work (WOW) program in 2011. Next year, we go national, with opportunities to become involved in WOW Melbourne, WOW Brisbane, WOW Darwin and WOW Alice Springs, as well as in regional areas of Victoria and Queensland.
The WOW program offers a great opportunity for your staff to be involved in making a difference in significant areas of disadvantage in our community. The engagement activities are short, simple, easy to be involved in and, importantly, happen in your workplace. Email wow@fya.org.au to find out how you and your staff can be part of this exciting initiative
