National Safe Schools Symposium

Creating schools free of homophobia and transphobia
The National Safe Schools Symposium exposed attendees to best practice and innovative ideas around challenging homophobia and transphobia in schools and creating safe and inclusive school environments.
The range of presentations, panel discussions and workshops were:
- reviewing the relevant research and its implications for all Australian schools
- showcasing current initiatives
- discussing experiences and opportunities for sharing resources nationally
- discussing the benefits of a national agenda and the form this might take
There was also a stream developed that provided opportunities for young people to come together to share the work they are doing in this area and look at how to implement social change in their communities.
