Jenny Proimos

jenny-proimos-ffya_0941Dr Jenny Proimos joined the Board of FYA in October 2007, and brings a unique voice to our organisation, as a specialist in young people’s health, and also a passionate opera singer. She is currently a paediatrician at the Royal Children’s Hospital Centre for Adolescent Health. She is also a senior medical advisor for the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, with a focus on child and adolescent health and wellbeing.

Jenny’s involvement with FYA unites her two interests; health and wellbeing. She sees education as a fundamental determinant of wellbeing, and vice versa, forming a circular and synergetic organism that produces competent citizens. She is the president of the Paediatrics and Child Health Division, and sits on the Board of the Royal Australasian College of physicians, which is responsible for training and credentialing all physicians and paediatricians in Australia and New Zealand.

Outside of her work in philanthropy and medicine, Jenny has a busy family life with a ten year-old son and five year-old daughter. She is passionate about contemporary art, and has volunteered on several projects with the National Gallery of Victoria and Heide Museum of Modern Art. She also enjoys knitting, quilting and embroidering in her free time.
