Ellen Koshland
In 1989, Ellen Koshland founded Education Foundation as an independent trust to harness community support for public education. For almost 21 years, Education Foundation has served as an important national agency, generating fresh ideas, new resources and strategic alliances to help ensure quality learning opportunities for all young Australians.
Since Education Foundation joined forces with The Foundation for Young Australians in 2008, it has continued to combine research and programs on the ground around Australia to improve the wellbeing of young Australians and support education reform.
Ellen has a long history driving change for the benefit of young people. She has been an Ambassador for the Melbourne Community Foundation since 2005. Her other roles include Victorian Co-Chair of Anti Poverty Week in 2007.
In keeping with her commitment to literature, Ellen has also been a judge for the Victorian Premier Literary Awards in 2006 and 2007and has a longstanding role in the creation of the annual Melbourne Writers Festival.
